The Division of Research Operations is responsible for operationalizing the funded research projects of the Department of Medical Social Sciences.

Division personnel support the administrative aspects of research projects including:

  • IRB and annual progress report preparation and maintenance
  • Participant recruitment and consenting
  • Data collection
  • Project coordination
  • Maintenance of data integrity and quality 

The Research Operations team is comprised of Bachelor’s and Master’s level individuals, some staff work at the research assistant level, with primary responsibility for data collection, and others at the study coordinator level, with responsibility for coordination of study activities, communication and functioning as the liaison with data collection sites.

In addition to quantitative data collection, the Research Operations staff also participates in qualitative data collection via focus groups and individual cognitive interviews. Some of the division members are bilingual (English/Spanish) and recruit/consent/assess Spanish-speaking research participants.
