Emily H. Ho, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Northwestern University Department of Medical Social Sciences (Division of Outcomes and Measurement Science), has been selected for the 2026 Butler-Williams Scholars Program, sponsored by the National Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health.
The Butler-Williams Scholars Program, conceived of by the first NIA Director and having run for more than three decades, brings together early- and mid-career investigators for intensive training in aging research, grantsmanship, and collaboration. The annual immersive experience provides a forum to engage with NIH leaders, share ideas across disciplines, and establish lasting national collaborations.
Through interactive sessions with NIH staff and peers, program participants gain insight into areas of strategic priority for NIA, refine research proposals, and build professional networks in the field of aging research.
Drawn from a national pool of applicants, selection for the Butler-Williams Scholars Program is highly competitive; thus, Emily's participation reflects her contributions to the field and her potential to continue improving the diagnostics of cognitive change for the early detection of cognitive aging. She will participate in the four-day program, held in early August, in the Washington, D.C. area. Chief of the MSS Determinants of Health Division Daniel Mroczek, PhD, will also be an invited speaker for the 2026 Butler-Williams Scholars program. It’s an incredible honor to have two people from the Department of Medical Social Sciences attend! Congratulations Emily and Dan!
