Read a Q&A Below:

What are the aims of the project?

Professor Darius Tandon, PhD and team at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Medical Social Sciences have entered into a partnership with Sunbeam Family Services based in Oklahoma City aimed at training early childhood providers in the state of Oklahoma to implement the Mothers and Babies postpartum depression preventive intervention. Jamie Hamil, DrPH, MPH Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Implementation Science, is a Co-Investigator on the project.

What are your next steps?

This work continues our lab’s efforts to scale our Mothers and Babies intervention across the United States. Mothers and Babies is a cognitive-behavioral intervention delivered in a group or individualized format during pregnancy and the first year postpartum that can be effectively delivered by lay health workers and behavioral health staff. All partners across the country that receive training and implementation support on Mothers and Babies from our Northwestern team provide implementation data as well as de-identified client mental health data, which are used to evaluate the intervention’s effectiveness when delivered in the real-world.
